Dresan ("we," "us," "our") operates the Dresan mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
- Anonymous authentication ID (Firebase Auth UID) — a pseudonymous identifier with no personal information attached
- Message content within chat rooms (may be retained for safety review, moderation, and improving match quality)
- Timestamps of messages and room activity
- Chat Karma scores (aggregate conversation ratings)
- Achievement and usage statistics
- Device type and OS version (for crash reporting)
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Name, email, phone number, or any personally identifiable information
- Date of birth (age verification is computed locally and not transmitted)
- Location data
- Contacts or photos
3. How We Use Information
- To facilitate anonymous chat matching and messaging
- To maintain Chat Karma and achievement systems
- To enforce content moderation and community safety
- To generate usage statistics (visible only to you)
- To train and improve our matching algorithms so users are paired with better, more compatible conversations
- To conduct internal research into conversation quality and user experience improvements
4. Data Retention
- Chat rooms: automatically closed 24 hours after creation
- Messages: may be retained beyond room expiry in pseudonymous form for moderation review, safety enforcement, and improving matching algorithms
- Reported rooms: retained for moderation review (up to 90 days)
- Karma and achievement data: retained until account deletion
- Blocked user lists: retained until account deletion
5. Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (Google Cloud default encryption)
- We use Firebase infrastructure with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance
- Your identity is pseudonymous — we cannot identify you personally
6. Your Rights
Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from app settings. This permanently removes all data associated with your anonymous ID (karma, achievements, active rooms, blocked users, and authentication credentials).
Deletion Request Link: You can also request deletion outside the app at our account deletion page.
Data Portability: Due to the anonymous and ephemeral nature of the service, there is no meaningful personal data to export.
Right to Erasure (GDPR Art. 17): Fulfilled through the account deletion feature.
CCPA Rights: California residents may request deletion of their data through the account deletion feature.
7. Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, analytics, remote configuration
- Google Cloud: Content moderation (Perspective API)
- We do not sell your data to any third party
8. Children's Privacy
Dresan is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their access and delete associated data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the app and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
